Im Sommer 2011 verbrachten Vasilena Gankovska und ich, als Stipendiatinnen des bmukk Österreich, drei Monate in Rom. Der Aufenthalt war durch die Wohnbedingungen, die Lage in der Stadt, das Kennenlernen von verschiedenen Stadträumen, Lebenskonzepten, Menschen usw. geprägt. Gewisse Eindrücke wieder-holten und verstärket sich, unter anderem „das Aperitivo“ - das abendliche soziale Zusammentreffen, kombiniert mit Alkohol und Snacks – praktiziert in fast jeder Bar. Nicht nur der soziale Faktor des gemeinsamen Essens und Trinkens, sondern auch die Ambivalenz der Aufmachung wurde uns immer vor Augen geführt. Die üppige Umgebung serviert auf weissen Plastiktellern. Das Atelier bot sich als Raum für Experimente, was wir nutzen wollten. Das Interagieren mit/in einer Stadt und unsere Präsenz in dieser - räumlich umzusetzen. Der Raum wurde Spielwiese und Präsentationsfläche gleichermaßen und wir luden zum „Aperitivo Artistico“ ein.

 

In the summer 2011 Vasilena Gankovska and I were living in Rome for an artist in residence program. The residence in Rome was impressed by the living conditions, the location, the exploration of the different urban spaces, life-concepts and last but not least the people. Some impressions continued and were stronger than others. One of it was the happening of “aperitivo”. A social happening in the evening with buffet and alcohol in nearly every bar. But not only the social character also the esthetic aspect was shown us quite plainly often. An opulent ambiance served on white plastic-dishes.The studio in Rome invited to experiment and we took this offer: for an interaction in (urban) space and our presence in it! Playground and presentation-area likewise, so we set the call for „Aperitivo Artistico“. The (plastic) objects are metaphoric symbols of the ambivalent situation and society we are living in.
